Sofieroskogen (The Sofiero forest)

The Sofiero forest is a small part of Pålsjö nature reserve, the largest and most popular of Helsingborg’s natural areas.

The canopy mainly consists of beech Fagus sylvatica, oak Quercus robur, hornbeam Carpinus betulus, common alder Alnus glutinosa and ash Fraxinus excelsior. The forest is home to lots of old (huge) beech trees and dead wood, both snags and lying trunks.

Some of the red-listed species found here are: Pyrenula nitida (NT), Ganoderma pfeifferi (EN), Gloeoporus pannocinctus (VU), Grifola frondosa (NT), Russula melliolens (VU), Dryobates minor (NT).
